Duties of Job
- Works exclusively for the Chief Engineer. All work given to the assistant will be directed by the Chief Engineer. Jobs are as follows but not limited to:
- Daily maintenance of factory; greasing of factory equipment, adjusting belts, daily cleaning and inspecting of all factory equipment including freezer hold conveyor belts, etc.
- Fabrication and mechanical repair as needed
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting
- Daily maintenance of Mustad System; checking and changing of sheaves & combi maintenance
- Makes rounds while Chief Engineer is down as directed by Chief; ensuring all is mechanically sound. Checking for safety hazards & work from Chief’s worklist
- Any additional work not listed will be directed by the Chief
Training and Licenses
- Previous boat experience preferred
- Commercial fishing license
